Doctor Appointment

Chris and I are so excited that we will be meeting our little girl very soon! I'm officially 39 weeks and 2 days pregnant leaving 5 days to go until our due date! I have been going to the doctor on a weekly basis for nearly a month now and I've been making progress towards labor, but I'm thinking this baby is nice and cozy in her current home and that she really isn't in a hurry to come out! I went to my 37 week appointment with little hope that I would be progressing any and found out that I was actually 1.5 cm dilated and 80% effaced (thinned out). I couldn't believe I was already making progress at 37 weeks! I think this got my hopes up though and when I went in for my 38 week appointment I found out that I had only dilated a half a cm and everything else remained the same. After getting my hopes up that she might come early I went into today's appointment knowing that nothing has changed. Sure, I've had a lot of braxton hicks contractions, but they always seem to subside after a few hours so I'm through getting my hopes up. Right? Well, at my 39 wk appointment today I learned that I am now dilated to 3cm and 90% effaced. The doctor says that the baby is very low and anteriorly placed... so it really is just a waiting game. We talked about our different options and decided to hold off on inducing until after I've reached my due date. I'm getting impatient and am so ready to meet and hold my baby girl, but I also want to try to go into labor on my own and experience that part of this process. My due date is this coming Monday October 25th and I'm sheduled for one more doctor appointment that morning. We will induce somtime next week if baby doesn't come on her own. It's so exciting to think that by next weekend we will have our baby in our arms!! Of course, I'm still hoping she comes in the next day or two. :)

We will keep you all updated!!!

I know it's hard to be patient, but remember... God created pregnancy and a woman's body to birth her baby, so Miss A will make her appearance when the time is exactly right! I promise you won't be the first woman to stay pregnant forever. :D

First let me emphasize that every woman is different, but for me, the Braxton-Hicks always went away when I went to sleep at night. When I went into true labor, lying down and trying to go to sleep did nothing to abate the intensity. How exciting that your body has already done so much of the ripening and opening. I'm hoping it will mean an easy, relatively rapid labor for you!

GREAT news, Abby!!! Sounds very familiar to how things progressed with Wells! Enjoy your last few days as a family of two!

I remember it was SO hard to be patient, but you can do it. Just remember that inducing isn't always the best plan. If your body can start the process on it's own, it's much better. All that being said, I'm SO excited for you and I wish you the best whatever you decide. Can't wait to meet this sweet little girl!
