Baby Bump

Here is the baby bump at 17 weeks and 5 days!

Quarter of a century old!

On May 12th, I turned the big 2-5. Although I do not feel any different, it is kind of weird to think that I am now a quarter of a century old. Crazy!! This year I felt overwhelming blessed by my family and friends. The week started with my first Mother's Day on Sunday and continued with a surprise birthday breakfast from my sweet friend Janie on Tuesday. My birthday was on Wednesday and the girls at the PT clinic (one of the places I work) had a huge balloon, a card and a delicious red velvet cake for me. They are so thoughtful! I also received the most beautiful flowers from my AMAZING husband. It was so fun getting flowers at work! That night Chris took me to Chili's since I have been CRAVING their skillet queso and chocolate molten cake. The birthday celebration continued on into Thursday when my parents took Chris, Amanda, my cousin Ansley (expecting her first child- a girl!!- just 5 weeks before our little one is due to arrive!) and her husband Tyler and me to Tommy Bahama's restaurant. It was delicious! Chris and I spent the weekend with his parents in Douglasville and on Saturday my sweet mother-in-law Cheryl took me shopping for maternity clothes. I am officially in that awkward stage where my "normal" clothes don't fit and yet maternity clothes don't quite fit either. It's kind of annoying. Saturday night we went to a wedding and had a great time catching up with old friends from Chris' childhood. The bride was absolutely gorgeous and I loved her choice of bridesmaids dresses. (Sorry, no pictures of the bride or wedding party). The following Thursday my parents, sister, Chris and I went to Osaka's... an amazing Japanese restaurant where they cook in front of you. This really was such a wonderful birthday.

These are the beautiful flowers Chris had delivered to me at work and the balloon is from my co-workers

Boy or Girl?

Some folks pray for a boy, and some
For a golden-haired little girl to come.
Some claim to think there is more of joy
Wrapped up in the smile of a little boy,
While others pretend that the silky curls
And plump, pink cheeks of the little girls
Bring more of bliss to the old homeplace
Than a small boy's queer little freckled face.

Now which is better, I couldn't say
If the Lord should ask me to choose today;
If He should put in a call for me
And say: "Now what shall your order be,
A boy or girl? I have both in store-
Which of the two are you waiting for?"
I'd say with one of my broadest grins:
"Send either one, if it can't be twins."

I've heard it said, to some people's shame,
They've cried with grief when a small boy came.
For they wanted a girl. And some folks I know
Who wanted a boy, just took on so
When a girl was sent. But it seems to me
That mothers and fathers should be happy
To think, when the stork has come and gone,
That the Lord should trust them with either one.

Boy or girl? There can be no choice;
There's something lovely in either voice.
And all that I ask of the Lord to do
Is to see that the mother comes safely through.
And guard the baby and have it well,
With a perfect form and a healthy yell,
And a pair of eyes and a shock of hair.
Then, boy or girl- and it's dad won't care.

This poem was read to me on Tuesday at a surprise baby shower that the ladies at the preschool through for me. I was in tears when it was read that "the Lord should trust them with either one". Chris and I will find out on June 2 if baby is a boy or a girl and it is encouraging to know that God has trusted us to care for his child.... boy or girl....
I'm tearing up as I write this. Children are such a wonderful blessing and yes, "there is something lovely in either voice". Christopher and I have prayed from day one that our child will be healthy. People always ask us what we hope the baby is but our answer is always the same.... we don't have a preference, as long as baby is healthy! I just wanted to share this poem with you all because it is very special to me during this time of my life.

Wonderful Weekend

Ansley Katherine Solly is 4.5 months old and I finally met her this past weekend!!! Daniel and Eddie were in a wedding this weekend in FL so I was able to see them and Katie and Dani (Eddie's fiance) for a little bit on Friday. Aunt Sandy and Uncle Dan also came down and stayed at my parents for the weekend. While Daniel, Katie, Eddie and Dani were at the wedding the rest of us got to spend lots of time with sweet little Ansley. I absolutely love her!!! She looks exactly like her daddy to me and I just love her smile and laugh! I seriously could hold her all day long! Being with Ansley makes me really excited for our little one to come in October! I'm sad that I didn't get to spend much time with my cousins, but really enjoyed the time I had with Aunt Sandy, Uncle Dan, Ansley, and my family. We had a great time catching up and I miss them already.

Here is Ansley sitting/standing on her little cousin!!

On Sunday, Chris and I went to brunch with my parents and sister to celebrate mother's day. We had a great lunch and really enjoyed each other's company.

Sunday afternoon Chris and I took our kayak out on the bay and let me tell ya... it's was a great day for kayaking! The weather was absolutely perfect. We could have stayed out there all afternoon but we aren't very bright sometimes and forgot to put on sunscreen SO, I was worried about becoming a lobster and cut our kayak trip short. Overall, we had a fantastic weekend and loved spending time with family. I hope you all had a great weekend as well!

OOPS!

Hey guys! I just realized that I forgot to tell you all how my OB appointment went last week! I was originally scheduled for Wednesday morning May 5th, but was rescheduled to the afternoon because the Dr. had to be in surgery during my morning appointment. This change in times resulted in Chris not being able to go to the appointment with me-- we were pretty frustrated but had to remind ourselves that if it was me having the surgery I would want the Dr. there!! So, my mom went to the appointment and needless to say she was absolutely THRILLED that I invited her to go! Let me remind you that this was not an ultrasound, but an OB check up. Well, I get signed in and a tech comes out and asks me if I wanted to find out what I was having. My response? "I'm not having an ultrasound today." She said she knew it was not scheduled, but if I wanted to find out she would take me back and do an ultrasound and tell me what I am having.... I couldn't believe it!!! If Chris had been there you better believe I would have jumped on that offer, but that is the ONE appointment Chris really wants to be at and I really want him there when we find out also. I still cannot believe that I could have found out!!! It's all ok though, because now the baby has a few more weeks to really develop and we can be completely sure what it is at our next appointment!! Of course my mom was hoping that I would have the ultrasound done so that she could see baby, but I remained strong and still said no! The appointment went really well. The baby's heartbeat sounded strong and I really really like my Dr. Our next appointment is 3 weeks from today.... it's the big appointment where they will check all of the baby's development and tell us the sex!!! I cannot wait!!!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you mom's out there! I hope that today was a very special day for you and that you were able to relax and enjoy time with your family. I would like to take this time to thank my mom and mother-in-law for being such loving and caring women. You both have played such an important role in mine and Christopher's lives and we have so much to be thankful for. We love you both so incredibly much and cannot thank you enough for all that you do for us. Setting aside just one day of recognition for you is definitely not enough-- you both deserve so much more than that! We love you!!!

Today is also my first mother's day! I will be 16 weeks pregnant tomorrow and it is so exciting to know that on Mother's Day 2011 I will be holding my baby boy or girl... who will be about 6 months old!!! How crazy is that!? I have received several texts, phone calls and cards from loved ones wishing me a happy mother's day. I cannot thank you all enough for thinking of me! I also got a wonderful gift from Christopher this morning... He gave me a book of baby names and a snoogle!! I've been wanting a book of baby names for a while. I have several girl names that I like, but boy names just do not come easily to me. I have enjoyed flipping through the book this afternoon and can't wait to know whether baby is a boy or a girl! The other part of my gift was a snoogle. This is a huge body pillow that is "C" shaped and is made for the pregnant woman. You can use this pillow in many different ways to help give comfort throughout the night. Our friend Kim told us about this and Chris must have gone straight home and ordered one!! I cannot wait to sleep with it! I'll let you know how I like it after I have used it for a while. Chris also ordered a green cover for the snoogle.... I love it!

The bump at 15 weeks

I am 15 weeks today and this is what I woke up to this morning....
